Sometimes It Hurts: A Reflection on Endurance and Divine Armor
As I reflect on my life, I find my perspective shifting in profound ways. A scripture that often comes to mind is the one that reassures us that God will not place more on us than we can bear. This thought naturally leads me to ponder the armor of God mentioned in Ephesians chapter 6, which is a critical reminder in these challenging times.
The scripture instructs us to "put on the whole armor of God," and I believe this is not just a daily task but a perpetual state of readiness. The armor of God is often discussed or preached in a manner that suggests we put on the whole armor daily. I would submit to you today that the armor of God never comes off. We know this because Paul begins to describe the function of the armor of God after he admonishes us to walk in the understanding that we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against spiritual wickedness in high places (Ephesians 6:12 KJV).
The phrase "in high places" translates from the Greek word "epouranios," meaning "the sphere of spiritual activities." This can also be read as "in heavenly places," "in the heavenly world," "in the heavenly realm," or "in the spiritual world." It emphasizes the spiritual nature of our battles, highlighting the necessity of divine armor that never comes off.
The armor of God is meticulously designed to help us withstand and endure the evil days, enabling us to stand firm. It offers protection and strength, ensuring that we remain steadfast in the face of adversity.
Be encouraged and remember you are still here because the armor worked. Walk boldly through the vulnerable spaces that God is revealing, knowing that He is releasing healing in those areas. Do not be afraid, for all things are working together for your good. To God be the glory.
